On writing software...

Boring, but necessary

I wasn’t going to write anything about software yet, because it’s kind of niche and boring, but I have to write SOMETHING, and Arc Studio has just issued an update with a long-awaited feature in it, so I guess now is as good a time as any. I have more interesting pieces brewing, I promise!

So, you’re going to start writing a new screenplay. You’ve made your notes, you’ve done whatever research you need to do, and you’ve outlined your story in as much or as little detail as you are comfortable with. You’re raring to go…

The next step for 90% of screenwriters is to click the Final Draft icon. And that’s fine. If you have looked at all the alternatives and made an informed choice that Final Draft is the one for you, go for it. I know a lot of writers who like Final Draft. I don’t understand those people, but it’s not my business.
